Are you wondering what mountaineering is all about and whether it is a thing for you? Join us on a 100% hands on training trip in the best classroom in the world, the Himalaya. We will teach you basic and safe climbing practices and will encourage the development of self sufficiency in the mountains. The course, designed and led by Soren Kruse Ledet features a two to one climber/Sherpa ratio so you will be fully supported as you learn or refresh your skills. The setting could not be more spectacular, with an approach trek through Rhododendron, pine and juniper forest which gives way to the stunning Rolwaling valley and our base above the snowline. Gauri Shankar (7134m) and Melungtse (7181m) provide the perfect backdrop to our forays as we cover topics such as the placement of snow, ice and rock anchors, ascending/descending fixed lines, rock climbing, lead climbing, belaying, abseiling and a variety of knots. This is the perfect trip for anyone with mountaineering aspirations looking to learn the ropes as well as anyone wishing to build on existing skills and is capped off with a thrilling day of ice climbing to solidify your practical knowledge.

Day 3
Trek to Kelse and learn basic knots (2740m)
The day begins with a steep climb out of camp. It is 700m straight up to Simigaun at approx. 2050m through terraced farm lands. From there the trail goes into the forest; undulating and ascending through the forest and we'll have lunch on the way. In Kelse (2740m) we will learn basic knots. This is rugged country off the main trekking trails and a good way to start the acclimatisation process.
Day 4
Trek to Beding (3750m) and practice knots
We set off this morning on a trek to the small village of Beding in the remote, stunning Rowling valley - which boasts beautiful alpine forest, and we'll walk along the river. As we gain height, the views will just get better. We enjoy experiencing unique and traditional Sherpa culture and will spend our time here practicing knots.
Day 5
Trek to Na village (4200m) and learn self rescue techniques
With glorious mountain scenery and eye-opening panoramas, we continue to enjoy trekking in the spectacular Rolwaling Valley, admiring the views and and making our way to Na. This area is isolated with a diversity of culture among the small village farming settlements. At 4200 metres, Na is cosily tucked into a valley but inhospitable in winter, so villagers move through in late spring grazing their yak herds.
Day 6-8
Na village basecamp, training
Our campsite is on a pleasant grassy patch, on the higher bank of the rocky riverbed. From our basecamp at Na village, we venture into suitable locations to learn a variety of skills, including the placement of snow anchors, ascending/descending fixed lines, lead climbing, placing rock protection, rock climbing, abseiling and jumaring. Time will be spent consolidating and practicing these skills.
Day 9
Ice climbing
Today we'll move our camp across the river and descend approx. 45 minutes to a campsite not far from the waterfall where we will be practicing ice climbing. Today we'll practice the skills and techniques necessary to ice climb. We'll learn about walking on ice in crampons, placing ice screws and lead climbing on belay.
Day 10
We will begin the day with a group breakfast before commencing our ice instruction and training for the day. Our ice climbing adventure take us on a trek to frozen waterfall base camp, where we work on our top rope climbing, and revision.
Day 11
Trek to Kelje
We will begin the day with a group breakfast before commencing our trek to the village of Kelje at 2850m. Enjoy the amazing views along the way before establishing camp for the evening.
Day 12
Trek to Chhechhet
Today after a group breakfast we will trek, hopefully with views of the amazing Rolwaling Peak, through the millet fields to the Sherpa village of Chhechhet and the road head.
